All about KCET Entrance Exam for Physiotherapy Course

What is the KCET Exam?

KCET or Karnataka Common Entrance Test is conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for various undergraduate professional courses like pharmacy, physiotherapy, agriculture, horticulture and many more programmes that are offered in colleges of Karnataka. The KCET Exam is a state level exam of Karnataka State for admissions to different professional courses, the aspirants can get admissions for courses to all the professional colleges of Karnataka based on the scores of KCET Exam.

What is KEA?

The Government of Karnataka established a common Entrance Test Cell for conducting of entrance test and determining the eligibility/merit, for admission to different professional courses offered by all the colleges in Karnataka.

Why the KCET Exam?

The KCET exam is for the students who are interested to join the BPT course in top colleges in Karnataka. The aspirants can take up KCET counselling to join the BPT course in top physiotherapy colleges in Bangalore and Karnataka.

The admissions to colleges are done under KCET counselling in 2-modes:

KCET Admission under Merit Quota

The best performing students with better rankings can avail admission to BPT course in top physiotherapy colleges of Karnataka under merit quota. Each college has different parameters for providing the merit seats like KCET rankings and academic scores etc. So, the students should be aware of all the aspects before attending counselling sessions.

KCET Admission under NRI/Management Quota

The students can also claim BPT seats under NRI/management quota in top physiotherapy colleges in Karnataka. The students who are interested in management quota seats are also required to qualify KCET exam and attend the management counselling sessions and choose their colleges under management.

Eligibility

The students who have completed their PUC or 10+2 with 50% aggregate in subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from a recognised board are eligible to apply for the KCET Exam.

Exam Pattern for KCET

The KCET Exam consists of the following:

  • The questions will be asked from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and English
  • Each question carries one mark and paper will be of 60 marks
  • Total time for exam is 80 minutes and there is No Negative Marking for wrong answers
  • The mode of exam is offline (paper based)

KCET Counselling Process

After the KCET results are announced, the aspiring students must register themselves for counselling sessions to participate in the KCET counselling procedures.

Step 1:  Registration

  • The students must click on the new registration tab, and they must fill the online registration form.
  • The students have to register for counselling sessions, they will receive unique login ID and password on their registered email Ids and mobile numbers
  • The students should login to their portals and fill the counselling form without any mistakes and should also upload relevant documents such as marks cards, KCET score card, address proof, passport photos, signatures etc. 
  • The students should keep this login ID until the counselling is completed

Step 2: Choose the desired colleges

  • In the portal the students will get the list of colleges that is according to their rankings, they have to choose the desired colleges and submit their responses
  • The students are required to take the printouts of all the application form after submission as they require them while document verification

Step 3: Payment  

  • The next step is the payment of desired fees for taking part in counselling sessions.
  • The students must pay the specified fees to participate in the counselling procedures.
  • Once the fee payment is done the students will get a receipt on their registered email IDs and they should take the printouts of the receipt to submit in future during counselling process

Document Verification

  • Once the registration is done for KCET counselling sessions, the computer allots seats for the colleges according to their preferences
  • Once the seat is allotted the students are required to verify their documents with KEA counselling authorities
  • After verification the students can directly approach the colleges where they have allotted seats and finish the admission procedures.

Documents required for counselling procedures

  • Copy of the KCET counselling application form (final copy post submission)
  • Proof of payment of the counselling fee
  • KCET Admit card
  • KCET Result/scorecard
  • Class X marksheet
  • Class XII marksheet
  • Candidate’s study certificate
  • Valid photo Id proof
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (4 to 5 in number)
  • Caste/caste income certificate (if applicable)
  • Parent’s study certificate/ Hometown certificate/Domicile certificate/Employment certificate/Cumulative Record/Marks Card (if applicable)
  • Migration Certificate
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Conduct Certificate

Age Limit and No of Attempts for KCET Exam

The students appearing for KCET Exam should have completed minimum 17 years of age at the time of admissions. The upper age limit is 25 years for General Category students and 30 years for OBC/SC/ST Category students. There is No restriction on the number of attempts for the KCET exam.
